Hakka Renaissance

Historian anthropologist Julian Davison is embarking on a mission to uncover the little known Hakka culture along the Taiwan Romantic Route 3, a 150km stretch of highway that cuts through hilly hinterlands along Taiwan’s northwest. Teaming up with Julian is half-British and half-Hakka model, Natalie Pickles. For her, it's a journey of a lifetime to reconnect with her Hakka roots. In each episode, the unlikely duo set out along the road to get an insight to a rich heritage that has been in the making for around four centuries. They experience what it's like to live off the land and participate in local industries that shape how the Hakka are living today.
